Christmas begins at Kidbrooke Village at a celebratory event on Tuesday 25 November, between 7pm and 9pm at the Kidbrooke Village Centre. Christmas lights for a 25 foot pine tree in the heart of the village will be switched on at 8pm by two families from Berkeley Homes East Thames' chosen charity Demelza.
The Christmas event builds on the success of the summer fete, which saw hundreds of local residents turnout to enjoy the stalls, activities, music and delicious food. Sainsbury's will be supplying free mince pies from its village centre shop while the Hop Stuff Brewery will be selling mulled wine.
The event will celebrate the growth of the Kidbrooke community connecting new residents to the existing community. There's also an opportunity to support a wide range of community groups and local businesses, including a wide range of stallholders including: Care Grow Fine Preserves, Marsh Produce, Heavens Celtic Kitchen, 1st Coffee, Southern Housing Group and Demelza.
Demelza provides invaluable care for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families across South East London, Kent and East Sussex. Berkeley Homes East Thames has been working with Demelza since 2012, raising over £126,000 to date. Volunteers from Berkeley Homes regularly provide support at the Demelza hospices, undertaking a number of DIY and gardening projects as well as helping to sort through donations before Christmas.
Karl Whiteman, Divisional Managing Director at Berkeley Homes, said: "Christmas is a great time to introduce new residents to our vibrant and diverse community at Kidbrooke and we hope local people come to join us for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie on 25 November."
How to get there:
Getting to the Christmas event could not be easier, with the return of the B16 bus route along Tudway Road bringing passengers straight to Kidbrooke Village Centre. Visitors from further afield can make their way to the event using the 178 bus route or Kidbrooke train station. Cycle racks are also available on site.
